Rocket Nurse Residency

The University of Toledo Medical Center’s nurse residency program enhances your transition in RN practice. Designed for registered nurses with less than one year of experience, the residency program offers education on topics including communication, prioritization, critical thinking, managing complex medical patient conditions, skill development, hands-on simulation and professional development.

UTMC nurse helping a patient in the emergency roomThe Rocket RN Residency is a 12-month program offering two cohorts per year, beginning in March and August. Specialty tracks include:

  • Medical-Surgical Acute Care
  • Intermediate Acute Care
  • Critical Care
  • Behavioral Health In-Patient
  • Emergency Department
  • Perioperative Services

Residents complete the program with increased clinical confidence, embrace evidence-based practices, value lifelong learning, integrate fellowship throughout the institution and support the growth of professional practice in each new RN.

Requirements to apply:

  • Active RN licensure in the State of Ohio. Positions may be offered to and held for pre-licensure candidates until they take the NCLEX. Alternatively, pre-licensure candidates may start via the Nurse Extern Resident program.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
