When something is wrong with your child, you want the best care possible. The Pediatrics Infectious Disease Service at the University of Toledo Medical Center is that care. Our team of physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses provide treatment and care to children with a variety of infectious and immunological problems.
We care and treat the following diseases:
- Care of immunocompromised children
- Chronic, recurrent or unexplained fevers
- Complex bone, join or wound infections
- Complicated bacterial, fungal or viral infections
- Complications of antibiotic therapy
- Congenital Infections such as Herpes Simplex, Toxoplasmosis and Cytomegalovirus
- Hepatitis B and C diagnosis and treatment
- HIV/AIDS in conjunction with the Ryan White Clinic
- Lyme disease
- Pneumonia
- Recurrent skin and soft tissue infections
- Tuberculosis

Our Pediatric Infectious Disease team covers both local children's hospitals for inpatient consultations and has outpatient sites at Toledo Children's Hospital and Mercy Children's Hospital. It is our goal to provide complete, comprehensive care for your child.

The Pediatrics Infectious Disease Service at the University of Toledo Medical Center also offers a travel clinic, offering:
- Travel-specific immunizations
- Information about prevention of malaria and other insect-borne diseases
- Information about prevention of other travel-related conditions
- Hand-out for patients to take with them outlining preventative measures they can carry out during their travels.
