Living Donation
A kidney transplant from a living donor has many benefits for the recipient. Typically, the transplant will have longer survival and potentially fewer complications immediately after the transplant since there is less cold, ischemic time on the kidney prior to actual transplant. Furthermore, it is possible that a better matched kidney can be found for the patient, resulting in less potential for rejection episodes following transplant.
