Welcome to the Quality Management Department
The UTMC Quality Management Department strives to promote continuous improvement of quality, safety, efficiency and appropriateness of patient care in an academic environment through retrieval, collection, analysis, and dissemination of valid and reliable clinical and patient outcome data.
The Quality Management Department provides support services to individuals and teams working to identify and implement initiatives to enhance the quality of healthcare delivered by the University of Toledo Medical Center to the surrounding community. Each of us has a critical role to ensure that care at UTMC is efficient, safe, timely, appropriate, effective, equitable, and patient centered.
The mission of UTMC is to improve the human condition by providing patient centered, university quality care in a way that facilitates the achievement of the university educational mission. In support of the mission, the department provides education to physicians, residents, staff, and others on aspects of performance improvement processes and the use of clinical data in decision making.
The Quality Management Department provides the coordination for the Joint Commission Process for the Acute Care Hospital and Clinics, Behavioral Health Services, Home Care (DME), and Disease Specific Certifications. In addition, regulatory performance improvement initiatives required by the Joint Commission are supported by the Quality Management staff.
