PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

Providing experiences in acute, inpatient care

Why complete this residency:

This PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program will provide a structured experience with the flexibility to tailor training programs that meet residents’ individual needs. Our comprehensive program offers broad experiences, including direct inpatient care, a foundation in operational and administrative skills, research, and teaching experience within The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Residents will participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds on a variety of inpatient services and provide drug information to the health care team, patient, and the patient’s family members. Residents will also participate in teaching, staff development, medication utilization evaluation (MUE) projects, protocol/pathway development, and other departmental/institutional projects. Residents will complete at least one research project. Further scholarly activity is encouraged and supported.

A pharmacy resident completing this program will have the skills and ability to provide high quality, patient-focused care in a variety of clinical settings. They will be leaders in pharmacy practice, eligible for board certification, and well equipped to obtain a PGY2 pharmacy residency position in a specialty of their choice or step directly into clinical or academic practice.
