Vascular Disease Testing

Many vascular diseases develop slowly, and they don’t always cause obvious symptoms. A vascular evaluation can help identify potential circulation problems, allowing for earlier intervention and helping to reduce your risk of complications.

Most vascular testing is simple, painless and non-invasive.

UToledo Health uses ultrasound and blood pressure measurements to evaluate blood flow and look for problems in the arteries and veins. If additional imaging is needed, patients have access to UToledo Health’s advanced CT, MRI and angiography services.

Our vascular laboratory is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Who Should Consider Vascular Testing?

Vascular disease can affect anyone. However, there are certain risk factors that can increase your chance of developing vascular disease.

  • Current or previous smoking history
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history of vascular disease
  • Chronic kidney disease

Additionally, if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, a vascular evaluation may help identify the cause and determine next steps.

  • Leg cramping or pain
  • Leg fatigue or heaviness
  • Swelling in the legs, feet or ankles
  • Changes in skin color
  • Numbness or tingling in the feet or toes
  • Slow- or non-healing wounds
