Common Symptoms of Vascular Disease

• Leg cramping and pain that’s brought on by walking or exercise and improves with rest.
• Leg fatigue or heaviness when walking.
• Swelling in the legs, feet or ankles that gets worse as the day goes on.
• Twisted, visible veins just beneath the skin that itch, ache or burn.
• Cold feet, hands, toes or fingers — even in warm weather.
• Changes in skin color, including discoloration on the legs or feet.

Seeing a vascular surgeon doesn’t always mean surgery.

Many conditions can be managed with lifestyle changes, medication and minimally invasive procedures.

Our team of board-certified vascular surgeons and experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants takes a patient-centered approach to care, developing individualized plans tailored to each patient's condition, symptoms and goals.

As an accredited vascular laboratory, our care team provides accurate, non-invasive testing to help diagnose vascular conditions and guide treatment decisions. If additional imaging is needed, patients have access to UToledo Health’s advanced CT, MRI and angiography services.

We also offer advanced treatment options for wound care, including Toledo’s only multiplace hyperbaric chamber and 3D-printed grafts created using a patient’s own fat cells to support healing.

Our multidisciplinary team specializes in limb salvage and amputation prevention, restoring blood flow to the legs and feet to help patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia and other advanced vascular diseases heal wounds, preserve mobility and avoid amputation whenever possible.
