Caring for Your Wound at Home
Following the instructions provided by your wound care team is an important part of the healing process. In general, keep your wound clean and protected, change dressings as instructed and follow your personalized treatment plan.
When to Contact Your Care Team
The UToledo Health wound care team is here to support you through your healing.
Please contact us if you have questions about how to care for your wound, difficulty completing the prescribed dressing changes or need additional dressing supplies.
Contact your care team promptly if you experience any of the following:
- Increased pain in or around the wound site
- Increased drainage from the wound
- Changes in skin color around the wound, especially increased redness
- Bleeding
- Changes in body temperature, blood pressure or mental status
- New wounds
