Pastoral Care
Our trained hospital chaplains are here to assist those in need of spiritual and emotional support.
Pastoral care chaplains are available in house Monday-Friday, and are on call on the weekends. We are available 24/7, and will respond to your needs.
We provide:
- Emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families
- Dialog to help patients/families make their ethical decisions
- Pastoral counseling and referrals
- Bibles and other literature to enhance the healing process
- Music therapy
- Phones for the hearing impaired
- A listening presence for both patients and families
- Meditation room-The meditation room is located on the 2nd floor, Rm 2187, across from the main elevators. Here you will find prayer books (prayers are said daily by chaplains), a bible, care notes, and a quiet place to reflect and pray
When to call a chaplain for patients and families:
- If you desire prayer or spiritual guidance
- If you desire a specific rite or ritual ( I.E., Communion Baptism, Sacrament of the sick, or Annointing)
- When there is a death or crisis
- When there is an emergency
- If you have unresolved grief, lack of faith, lack of hope, feelings of loneliness or abandonment
- When you need information about community religious groups and/or resources-clergy contacts upon request
How to reach pastoral care:
- Ask a nurse to call a chaplain to visit you
- Call the pastoral care office during business hours from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at 419.383.3851 (please leave a clear message if there is no answer)
- Call the hospital operator at 419.383.4000 to have a chaplain paged
