Ann

The Ann Wayson Locher Memorial Fund for HIV Care was established in memory of Mrs. Locher after her unexpected death in 2010.  At that time, Ann was the Program Coordinator for the UTMC Ryan White Program, now known as the UToledo Health Care Clinic.  In fact, today the UToledo Health Care Clinic remains true to her vision and continues to offer high-quality, comprehensive HIV/AIDS care services through a multidisciplinary health care team.

Ann Wayson Locher, MSN, RN, was a nurse, pioneer, visionary, advocate, and educator.  She opened the first grant-funded free and anonymous HIV testing site in northwest Ohio in 1985.  As a clinical nurse specialist, she worked tirelessly pursuing her passion: caring for people with HIV.  Mrs. Locher foresaw the need for services for people living with HIV/AIDS and gathered a team of experts to form the Ryan White Program at the University of Toledo Medical Center in 2000, now known as the UToledo Health Care Clinic.  She established a center that offered comprehensive, community-based health care for all people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS.

The Ann Wayson Locher Memorial Fund for HIV Care endeavors to provide services for patients who have needs which cannot be covered by other agencies or programs.
