What to Expect During the Billing Process  
               		
               After you receive care at The University of Toledo Medical Center, we will send a
                  claim to your insurance company to pay your bill. We will do everything we can do
                  to minimize your financial burden by maximizing your insurance benefits.
               
               You may receive separate billing statements from The University of Toledo Medical
                  Center for your health care services, i.e. physicians, radiologists, pathologist and
                  anesthesiologists. For example, if you have outpatient surgery, you may receive a
                  bill from the hospital as well as a statement from the physician involved in your
                  care. If you see a physician in an outpatient clinic, you may receive a billing statement
                  for the physician's fees and one for the hospital, facility and / or clinic fees.

                                    | We process your account based on information provided when you registered at The University
                                          of Toledo Medical Center. We will then bill your insurance company(ies). | When registering, verify your current demographic information, and present your current
                                          insurance card(s) and a picture ID for scanning. |  
                                    
                                    | We will send you a billing statement from The University of Toledo Medical Center. | Review the statement, making sure the personal and insurance information is correct.
                                          If there are changes, please call Patient Financial Services, 419.383.7400, 800.589.7401. Keep your billing statements for your records. The billing statements may be helpful
                                          when reviewing the explanation of benefits (EOB) you receive from your insurance company. |  
                                    
                                    | We wait for payment from your insurance company. If payment is not received in a reasonable
                                          amount of time, we may contact your insurance company again. | Respond promptly to requests from your insurance company for additional information.
                                          These requests must be handled before payment can occur. |  
                                    
                                    | We may ask for your help if we have a problem processing your claim with your insurance
                                          company. | If you do not receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurance company
                                          within 30 days from the date of your visit, please contact them to find out the status
                                          of your claim. |  
                                    
                                    | After your insurance company has made payment, we may send you a billing statement
                                          from The University of Toledo Medical Center for the remaining balance, if any. | When you receive a billing statement, please pay your bill promptly. |  |
