Diagnostic Testing and Imaging Services
UTMC offers a wide range of cardiac testing and imaging services on site at the Heart and Vascular Center, including:
- Aortic ultrasound scan to detect aneurysm
- Cardiac nuclear myocardial functional imaging to measure the Ejection Fraction that shows how well the heart is working
- Carotid duplex scan to detect blockages in circulation to the brain
- Chest x-rays to show the size and shape of the heart and detect any diseases in your lungs or other chest structures
- Doppler test to measure circulation to the legs and detect peripheral arterial disease
- Echocardiogram (ECHO) to evaluate the structure and function of the heart valves or the heart chambers, using soundwaves.
- Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) for recording electrical changes in the heart
- Holter monitor/event monitors to detect heart disease such as abnormal heart rhythms
- Nuclear scan/cardiac perfusion dobutamine imaging to detect narrowed, blocked or damaged arteries
- Stress echocardiogram to show whether your heart pumps normally during exercise and your coronary arteries can meet your heart’s increased demand for blood
- Transesophageal echocardiogram to create a clear image of the heart muscle and other parts of the heart
- Treadmill exercise stress test to determine heart response to physical exertion (stress)
